The Hospitality Management Society joined the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation community in a tree-planting activity on Feb. 10 at the MSEUF Forest Research Site as part of the university’s 79th founding anniversary celebration and its continuing commitment to environmental sustainability.
The activity gathered students, faculty members, administrators and staff in a shared effort to help protect the environment, reduce pollution, prevent soil erosion and promote a greener campus community.
Participants planted Dwarf Coconut Trees donated by the Philippine Coconut Authority. The partnership highlighted the value of collaboration between educational institutions and government agencies in advancing environmental protection, ecological balance and community development.
HMS members actively participated by planting seedlings and learning proper tree care and maintenance. Through the activity, they gained a deeper appreciation of environmental responsibility while strengthening teamwork and social awareness.
Set against the natural backdrop of the MSEUF Forest Research Site, the initiative became a meaningful symbol of growth, resilience and hope. Each tree planted represented the university community’s shared commitment to building a greener and healthier future.
For HMS, the project served as an expression of service beyond the classroom. It allowed members to contribute to climate action while living out their role as responsible students and future professionals who care for both people and the environment.
The activity benefited the MSEUF community, the student participants and the environment by promoting sustainability, hands-on learning and collective action toward ecological preservation.
The initiative reflected MSEUF’s mission of forming socially responsible individuals through meaningful service and learning by doing. It also upheld the core values of Mindfulness, Service, Unity and Fortitude as the university community worked together to protect the environment and promote a sustainable future.
