Putting sports officiating knowledge into practice, 50 members of the Society of Culture, Arts, and Physical Education served as sports officials and support personnel during Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s Intramurals 2026 from Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at the MSEUF Gymnasium.
SCAPE members assisted in the conduct of different sports events by applying rules and regulations, scoring systems, officiating signals and proper procedures to help maintain orderly and fair competitions.
The activity provided members with hands-on experience in sports officiating and event management while allowing them to work directly with players and other personnel involved in the University-wide athletic competition.
Through their assigned responsibilities, the student officials strengthened their communication, decision-making, teamwork and leadership skills while developing greater confidence in managing actual sports events.
Their participation also supported the safe and organized conduct of the Intramurals by providing additional personnel who could assist in implementing competition rules and procedures.
Through the experience, SCAPE members further developed practical competencies that can prepare them for future roles in sports officiating, event management and other athletic activities.
The activity supported MSEUF’s learning-by-doing and outcomes-oriented educational approaches by allowing students to apply sports officiating knowledge in an actual University event. It also reflected the core values of Excellence, Unity and Fortitude through responsible decision-making, teamwork and commitment to fair and organized competition.
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being — Effective sports officiating and event support contribute to safer and more organized participation in physical activities.
- SDG 4: Quality Education — The activity provided experiential learning in officiating, leadership, communication, decision-making and event management.
