Strengthening research and data analysis competencies among Industrial Engineering students, the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers–MSEUF Student Chapter conducted the IE Research & Application Workshop themed “Transforming Data into Engineering Solutions” on Oct. 1 at CET Building Room 122.
Fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering students participated in the workshop, which focused on the use of data, analysis and interpretation in developing practical engineering solutions.
Dr. James Louie Meneses served as resource speaker and guided participants in understanding how data can be formulated, analyzed and interpreted for research and engineering applications. The session also highlighted the importance of transforming data into useful information that can support problem-solving and decision-making.
The workshop connected data analysis with the students’ ongoing research and capstone projects, helping participants recognize how appropriate interpretation can improve the quality and relevance of their engineering work.
Through the activity, students gained additional knowledge and practical insights that can strengthen their research capabilities and prepare them for future professional responsibilities as Industrial Engineers.
The interaction with the resource speaker also provided participants with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of research and data analysis while encouraging them to further develop their technical and analytical skills.
The activity supported Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s learning-by-doing and outcomes-oriented educational approaches by helping students apply research and analytical concepts to engineering problems and capstone work. It also reflected the core values of Excellence and Fortitude through continuous skills development, critical analysis and preparation for professional practice.
- SDG 4: Quality Education — The workshop strengthened students’ competencies in research, data analysis and interpretation through applied learning.
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure — Developing data-driven engineering solutions supports innovation, technical problem-solving and the practical application of engineering knowledge.
