Strengthening student leadership and animal welfare advocacy on campus, the Protect Every Tail Society conducted its general assembly, orientation, induction and oath-taking ceremony for officers, committee heads, members and first-year volunteers on Aug. 28 at the AEC Criminalistics Laboratory A of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation.
PETSoc President Sylvia Ann Regis opened the program and welcomed members to the organization for school year 2026-27. Internal Vice President Kervin Jade Mendoza then introduced PETSoc’s mission, vision and purpose, presented the officers, committee heads and advisers, and discussed their respective duties and responsibilities.
The newly appointed officers included Regis as president; Mendoza as internal vice president; Isabella Cassandra Soriano as external vice president; Kamillia Cate Lim as secretary; Reychelle Lee Dimalaluan as treasurer; Isiah Klarise Anne Rada as auditor; Yelena Gayle Alfonso as public information officer; and Sabine Ashley Ricaplaza as public relations officer. Committee heads were Freya Cian Villa for Animal Welfare, Leonard Artkins Gliane for Creatives, Jay Rosh Umel for Programs and Events, and Aldiel Weigne Ilumin for Logistics.
The orientation also featured presentations from the committee heads on their respective responsibilities. Adviser Ronald Kristoffer Gayeta discussed the organization’s Constitution and By-Laws, while Dimalaluan presented information on monthly dues, sponsorships, donations, penalties and budget transparency to reinforce accountability in the organization’s operations.
Members and first-year volunteers also participated in the interactive “Animal Act It and Guess It” game before the program proceeded to the formal oath-taking, certificate distribution and membership pinning ceremony. Adviser Benedict Tordillos delivered the closing remarks, with the program concluding at 5 p.m.
Throughout the activity, PETSoc leaders and advisers emphasized responsible care and compassion for animals within and beyond the University community. The orientation also clarified organizational procedures and expectations to help members carry out future projects and animal welfare initiatives effectively.
Through the assembly, PETSoc strengthened its foundation for the academic year by promoting leadership, volunteerism, transparency and collaboration among its members while advancing awareness of animal welfare across the MSEUF community.
The activity supported MSEUF’s commitment to student-centered development and learning by doing by allowing students to practice leadership, accountability, teamwork and volunteerism through an organized campus advocacy group. It also reflected the core values of Service, Mindfulness and Unity by encouraging responsible care for animals and collective participation in initiatives that contribute to a compassionate campus community.
- SDG 4: Quality Education — PETSoc provided experiential opportunities for students to develop leadership, organizational management, teamwork and civic responsibility outside the classroom.
- SDG 15: Life on Land — The organization’s animal welfare advocacy promotes responsible treatment, protection and care for animals within the University and wider community.
