MSEUF Communication Society hosts forum on Quezon’s legacy

The MSEUF Communication Society, in partnership with Dakila, Active Vista and TBA Studios, hosted a historical forum on Oct. 4 at the MSEUF Gymnasium to discuss the legacy of Manuel Luis Quezon and the upcoming film “Quezon.”
Titled “Bayani Ba ’To: MLQ — Mga Lingering Questions on Leaders, Legacy, and Liberty,” the event gathered students and faculty members from different institutions for a discussion on history, leadership and contemporary social issues.
The forum featured a panel composed of the film’s cast, directors and a historian, who examined Quezon’s life and the role of historical knowledge in understanding current challenges in society.
Organizers said the project aimed to “open the eyes of the youth” to specific social concerns while helping them gain a broader perspective on modern issues facing the country.
A post-event assessment cited the forum’s strong turnout and meaningful discussions on leadership, politics and historical awareness as major strengths. It also identified areas for improvement, including the registration process, which became challenging because of the high number of participants, and the limited time allotted for the open forum.
Through the activity, MCS helped provide a space for students and faculty members to reflect on history, ask relevant questions and engage in conversations on leadership, legacy and civic responsibility.
The activity supported Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s commitment to transformative and student-centered learning by encouraging students to connect historical knowledge with present social realities. It reflected the University’s core values of Mindfulness, Excellence, Unity and Service through critical reflection, meaningful dialogue and collaboration with external partners.
- SDG 4: Quality Education — The forum promoted historical awareness, critical thinking and civic education among students and faculty.
- SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions — The discussion encouraged informed conversations on leadership, liberty and responsible citizenship.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — The event strengthened collaboration among MCS, Dakila, Active Vista, TBA Studios and participating academic institutions.
