Welcoming new students to the University community, the CAS Social Sciences Society participated in a freshmen and transferee welcome activity on July 31 at the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation Gymnasium.
The activity gathered first-year students, transferees and other members of the Envergan community for orientation activities and organization booths designed to introduce students to campus life and opportunities for involvement.
As one of the participating student organizations, the CAS Social Sciences Society prepared an interactive booth featuring a mirror selfie area, free ballpens, stickers, lollipops and a game for visitors. The organization also offered musubi, graham balls and fuzzy-wire keychains for sale.
Officers and members worked together in planning the booth, preparing decorations and materials, coordinating products and organizing activities intended to create an engaging and welcoming experience for students.
Through the initiative, the organization introduced itself to incoming students while giving its members an opportunity to demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness and teamwork.
The activity also helped strengthen student engagement by providing new Envergans with an informal avenue to interact with student organizations and become more familiar with opportunities for participation in University life.
The activity supported MSEUF’s student-centered approach by helping new students build connections and become more familiar with campus organizations and student life. It also reflected the core values of Unity and Service through teamwork, hospitality and active participation in welcoming members of the University community.
- SDG 4: Quality Education — The activity supported students’ transition into university life by encouraging engagement, belonging and participation beyond the classroom.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — Participation of different student organizations in the welcome activity promoted collaboration and stronger connections within the University community.
