CAS Social Sciences Society joins outreach for Barra pupils

The CAS Social Sciences Society joined College of Arts and Sciences organizations in an outreach activity on March 27, at Brgy. Barra Elementary School to provide meals and learning sessions for 100 pupils from Grades 1 to 3 as part of Social Sciences Week 2026.
Carrying the theme “One World, One Meal,” the program brought together CAS student organizations in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences Council.
The outreach activity combined community service and educational engagement. Student volunteers assisted in the feeding program and helped facilitate interactive discussions for the young beneficiaries.
One of the highlights of the program was the session “Children Around the World,” which introduced pupils to different cultures and traditions. The activity encouraged the children to appreciate global diversity while taking part in a fun and meaningful learning experience.
The CAS Social Sciences Society worked with other CAS organizations to help create a positive and engaging environment for the pupils. Their participation showed how student organizations can come together to support young learners and respond to community needs.
The activity was made possible through the support and guidance of Claudia Odette Ayala, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Frisian Cruz, department chair; Joshua Daniel Aaron Jalos, CAS community extension services coordinator; and Gloria Bobadilla, principal of Barra Elementary School.
Through the outreach program, the CAS Social Sciences Society and its partner organizations strengthened their commitment to service, education and community engagement while giving the pupils a memorable Social Sciences Week experience.
The activity reflected MSEUF’s commitment to transformative and student-centered education by allowing students to learn through service and direct community engagement. It also embodied the University’s core values of Mindfulness, Service, Excellence and Unity by promoting compassion, teamwork and shared responsibility for young learners in the community.
