CAS Psychological Society conducts psychological first aid seminar

The CAS Psychological Society, together with third-year BS Psychology students, conducted the departmental seminar “Psychological First-Aid: Stress Management Amidst Global Crisis” on April 16, at the EMRC to equip students with practical skills in crisis support and stress management.
The activity formed part of the College of Arts and Sciences Psychological Wellness program and gathered 114 students and organization members.
The seminar aimed to move learning beyond classroom theory by helping participants develop actionable skills for supporting individuals during large-scale emergencies and global stressors.
Discussions focused on practical techniques for stabilizing emotional reactions and addressing psychological distress.
A key part of the seminar highlighted the “Three L’s” of psychological first aid: Look, Listen and Link.
Through these principles, participants learned how to assess situations, listen to the needs of affected individuals and connect them with appropriate long-term support systems.
The activity also emphasized the importance of normalizing mental health conversations to help reduce the stigma around seeking help during crises.
By conducting the seminar, CPS strengthened the preparedness, empathy and professional identity of future psychology practitioners.
The activity reflected Enverga University’s core values of Mindfulness, Service and Excellence by preparing students to respond to others with care, competence and responsibility during times of distress. It also supported transformative learning by helping psychology students apply classroom concepts to real-life mental health and crisis response situations.
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – The seminar promoted mental health awareness, stress management and psychological first aid.
- SDG 4: Quality Education – The activity provided practical learning on crisis support and emotional resilience beyond the classroom.
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – The training helped prepare students to support more resilient communities during emergencies and global crises.
- SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions – The seminar encouraged responsible, compassionate and ethical support for individuals experiencing distress.
