Preparing students for possible officiating roles in future competitions, the Society of Culture, Arts, and Physical Education conducted the SCAPE Workshop 2026 on Sept. 19 at the Gymnasium Dance Studio and Twin Court.

The skills-development activity gathered 35 members, particularly first- and second-year students, for training in sports officiating across volleyball, swimming, athletics, table tennis, badminton and pickleball.

Participants received instruction on rules and regulations, scoring procedures, officiating signals and game management. The workshop aimed to strengthen their practical knowledge and prepare them for possible involvement as student officials in upcoming Intramurals and PRISAA competitions.

The activity also included a session on basic first aid and emergency response to improve participants’ awareness of proper safety practices during sports activities.

Through the workshop, members developed competencies in leadership, teamwork, communication, discipline and decision-making while gaining greater confidence in handling sports events.

The activity also encouraged knowledge-sharing between junior and senior members, helping strengthen SCAPE’s pool of students who may assist in future sports competitions and related activities.

The activity supported Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s commitment to learning by doing and student-centered education by giving students practical opportunities to develop sports officiating and safety competencies. It also reflected the core values of Excellence, Unity and Fortitude through discipline, teamwork, leadership and responsible participation.

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being — The workshop promoted sports safety, first aid awareness and responsible participation in physical activities.
  • SDG 4: Quality Education — The activity provided experiential learning in sports officiating, leadership, communication and decision-making.
