Games 9-12 of Chairman’s Cup resume in Sampaloc
The heat of the 4th Chairman’s Cup shifted to Sampaloc Municipal Amphitheater as the tournament resumed for games 9-12 on January 22, Thursday. Athletes, school heads, university officials, and other students from across the university campuses and affiliate schools assembled again for another high-stakes leg, continuing the tradition of sportsmanship.
In today's games 9 to 12 of the Chairman's Cup, the Enverga-Candelaria Jaguars, Enverga-Catanauan Panthers, Enverga-Lucena Wildcats, and Enverga-Sampaloc Lynx claimed victories, respectively, as the fierce competition carried on.
Candelaria Jaguars opened the day by defeating Calauag Bobcats with a score of 85-71.
Catanauan outplayed the San Antonio Cheetahs with a very close score of 75-77, winning shortly before the last three seconds of the game.
Lucena Wildcats secured another win against Calauag Bobcats with a final score of 92-27.
For the last match, the Sampaloc Lynx closed the day with a 97-75 victory over the Catanauan Panthers.
Today's opening ceremony started with the welcoming remarks of MSEAFI-Sampaloc School Head Dr. Jose Girom Jr., who thanks all the students and other officials for their participation in this big event that symbolizes sportsmanship and camaraderie. Following this, Coordinator of Affiliate Schools Dr. Amelita O. Balagtas gave a message on the importance of the Chairman's Cup as an honorable tradition of the university.
Local government officials also participated in the opening ceremony as Sampaloc Vice Mayor Teresita D. Villeno and Mayor Nicolas Andre Devanadera respectively spoke to the student body. Both leaders talked about Enverga-Sampaloc's long history of shaping its citizens. Rounding out the opening messages, Tina Charman of the Sampaloc Tourism Office also extended a warm welcome to the students and university staff.

MSEAFI Performing Artists and Marching Band gave an intermission number to increase the energy throughout the event.
As the dust settles in Sampaloc, the excitement is set to continue as the tournament moves to San Antonio for Games 13-15 happening on February 5, Thursday. This upcoming leg on Thursday will serve as the final set of games in the elimination round, determining which teams will secure their spots in the much-awaited semi-finals.
