CMAS leads Women’s Month hygiene drive for female PDLs

The Criminology Martial Arts Society of the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation conducted a Women’s Month wellness and hygiene drive titled “She Matters” in March 2026 at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Female Dormitory in Lucena City to support the dignity and well-being of women persons deprived of liberty.
The initiative provided hygiene kits containing soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and sanitary products to address the daily needs of female beneficiaries.
Organizers said the activity aimed to promote self-care and reinforce respect for women in vulnerable situations through compassionate outreach.
“This simple act of giving reminded us of the importance of dignity and compassion,” a student volunteer said.
The program formed part of the University’s Women’s Month celebration and highlighted the importance of inclusive community service that supports rehabilitation and personal well-being.
Organizers added that the initiative strengthened student awareness of social issues while encouraging meaningful engagement with underserved sectors.
The activity reflected the University’s core values of Service, Mindfulness and Unity by promoting compassion, inclusivity and community engagement. It also supported transformative learning by allowing students to respond to real societal needs through outreach initiatives.
- SDG 5 – Gender Equality: The initiative supported women’s dignity and addressed their specific needs.
- SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being: Providing hygiene kits promoted health and personal well-being among beneficiaries.
