CMAS, UCSC hold SAFE-EU self-defense training for students
The Criminology Martial Arts Society of the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, in collaboration with the University Central Student Council, conducted the SAFE-EU: Self-Defense and Safety Training Program in 2026 to equip students with essential safety awareness and self-defense skills.
The program opened with a morning seminar that discussed safety awareness, risk assessment and fundamental self-defense principles. In the afternoon, participants engaged in hands-on training where they practiced basic techniques to improve personal security and preparedness.
Organizers said the initiative aimed to empower students with both knowledge and practical skills to respond responsibly in potentially risky situations.
“This program helped us become more aware and more confident in protecting ourselves,” a student participant said.
The activity also strengthened collaboration between student organizations and reinforced the importance of safety education within the university community.
The initiative reflected the University’s core values of Mindfulness, Fortitude and Service by promoting awareness, resilience and responsibility among students. It also supported outcomes-oriented education by providing practical skills that prepare learners for real-life situations.
- SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being: The training promoted personal safety and well-being through awareness and preparedness.
- SDG 4 – Quality Education: The program delivered skills-based learning beyond the classroom.
- SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: Safety education contributed to a more secure and responsible campus community.
