GEP QSC participates in OSAlubong; welcomes freshmen and treansferee students
To introduce freshmen and transferee students to student organizations and encouraged active involvement in campus life, the Geodetic Engineering student organization participated in Office of Student Affairs (OSA)'s initiative.
During the two-day event, the organization created an engaging booth experience featuring a Toy Story-themed photobooth, interactive activities, merchandise displays, and student assistance services. The booth theme was provided by the Engineering Department Student Council (DSC).
On the first day, students used themed props, including headbands and fun signs, while taking photos at the photobooth. The organization also showcased and sold merchandise such as organization pins, ID laces, crochet keychains, and crochet flower bouquets.
The organization also conducted “GEym Ka Na Ba?”, an interactive activity designed to introduce students to the field of Geodetic Engineering. Participants searched for hidden banderitas representing survey monuments (mojons) using their phone compass and provided bearings and distances. The activity simulated the work of a Geodetic Engineer and helped students understand how navigation tools and field measurements are applied in the profession.
Organization members also assisted freshmen by guiding them to their classrooms and responding to their questions about the campus. On the second day, the booth continued to welcome visitors, answer inquiries, and provide opportunities for students to learn more about the organization and its activities.
The project increased awareness among freshmen and transferee students about student organization opportunities in the university. Through the photobooth, interactive game, merchandise, and engagement with organization members, students gained a better understanding of the Geodetic Engineering program while becoming more familiar with the campus community.
The activity also strengthened the organization’s visibility, promoted the Geodetic Engineering profession, and provided a welcoming experience for students beginning their university journey.
The OSALUBONG participation supports Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s commitment to student-centered learning and a campus environment that encourages engagement, collaboration, and personal development. Through interactive activities and peer support, the initiative reflects the university’s educational philosophy of learning by doing while helping students develop professionalism, leadership, and a sense of service.
The activity contributes to Enverga University’s direction toward becoming a globally competitive university by strengthening student involvement and promoting meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom.
