Student leaders strengthen planning skills at EU Leaders workshop

Equipping student leaders to develop organized, inclusive and sustainable programs, the Student Organization Workshop carried the theme “EU Leaders: Empowering and Uniting for Collaborative Success” on July 28 at the Alumni Building.

The workshop introduced planning as the process of setting clear goals and identifying effective steps for implementation. Discussions emphasized how planning provides direction, promotes efficient resource use, manages risks, strengthens teamwork and helps organizations adapt to changing circumstances.

Participants learned about goal setting, SWOT and stakeholder analyses, and action planning. The workshop also presented 10 strategic focus areas: academic excellence, values formation, facility management, research, community service, employability, global awareness, digital literacy, safety and wellness, and financial sustainability.

The sessions covered time and budget management, communication, monitoring and evaluation, ethics and sustainability. Student leaders also explored responsible practices such as energy conservation, waste reduction, the three Rs—reduce, reuse and recycle—and the development of environmentally friendly activities.

Through the workshop, participants gained practical tools for organizing activities, using resources responsibly, anticipating risks and coordinating effectively with their teams. The activity also strengthened collaboration among student leaders and encouraged them to prioritize environmentally responsible and community-centered initiatives.

The knowledge gained from the workshop prepared participants to develop meaningful, well-organized programs that respond to students’ needs and contribute to the wider University community.

The workshop supported Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s commitment to student-centered and outcomes-oriented education by developing practical competencies in leadership, strategic planning and organizational management. It also reflected the core values of Mindfulness, Service, Excellence and Unity by promoting responsible resource use, collaboration and sustainable student-led initiatives.

• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — Discussions on resource management, waste reduction and the three Rs encouraged responsible and sustainable organizational practices.
• SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — The activity promoted teamwork and collaboration among student leaders in developing programs for the University community.
