CAS Social Sciences Society joined the university-wide donation drive “Pantawid-Gutom Pantry para sa mga Tsuper ng University Site” by donating canned goods from its organizational funds to help support 101 jeepney drivers affected by rising fuel prices.

The initiative formed part of a collective effort involving university departments, faculty members, student bodies and organizations that aimed to ease the burden of the ongoing fuel crisis on drivers and their families.

Organizers launched the pantry as a two-month project running from April 17 to May 26, 2026, to provide sustained support through essential goods and basic food items.

All donations were collected and consolidated at the Alumni Building for distribution to the identified beneficiaries.

The participation of the CAS Social Sciences Society highlighted the organization’s commitment to compassion, solidarity and shared responsibility within the university community.

Organizers said the project also showed the importance of continued support from various sectors of the University to help transport workers who play a vital role in daily campus operations.

Through the pantry drive, the University community strengthened its collective response to the needs of drivers and reinforced a culture of service during a difficult period.

The initiative reflected the University’s core values of Service, Unity and Mindfulness by responding to the immediate needs of transport workers through collective action. It also showed the University’s commitment to community engagement by encouraging students and employees to support those who sustain daily campus life.
