[Features] MSEUF-BED students embrace global learning: A transformative journey in Thailand
In an enriching and unforgettable experience, students from the Basic Education Department (BED) of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) ventured to BJP Elite Academy in Pattaya, Thailand, as part of the EU FLIGHT International Student Mobility Program. Held from January 26 to February 1, 2025, this journey was not just about academic exchange but a profound cultural immersion that left a lasting impact on its participants.
Upon arrival, the MSEUF delegation received a warm and heartfelt welcome from BJP officials, including BJP Head Teacher Kristine Abadilla, Administrator Tipparat Rattamana, and CEO Patcharee Rattamana. Setting the tone for the week-long experience, the students immediately embraced Thailand’s natural beauty with a visit to Camp Chang, where they delighted in elephant rides, crocodile feeding, and a tropical fruit buffet. The thrilling start ignited their enthusiasm for the rest of the program.
The next five days were filled with dynamic activities designed to develop leadership skills, strengthen teamwork, and enhance cultural awareness. The participating students—Ageo Josue Bajal, Creazie Khemero Behik, Kershey Ynzhiera Calvendra, Shaun Charl Canuel, Sophia Faith Carpena, Ulycel May Herrera, Sguielle Brayden Maulion, Gabrielle Sanja Panganiban, Jed Romen Samonte, Ariana Isabella Tan, Jessica Nicole Marie Tan, and Wishchelle Joy Tibayan—had the unique opportunity to interact with peers from Thailand, China, Bangladesh, the UK, and Hong Kong. Through shared experiences, they built friendships that transcended borders and gained a deeper understanding of global diversity.
Cultural appreciation took center stage with activities such as traditional Thai dance workshops, language sessions, and personal introduction exercises, all of which helped students develop confidence and cross-cultural communication skills. The presence of MSEUF faculty members Sir Rommel Hiloma and Ma’am Fe Bartiana further enriched the experience. Sir Rommel conducted Science classes and a Filipino language session, while Ma’am Fe led Oral Communication lessons, introducing Thai students to Filipino expressions and greetings. This professional exchange reinforced the academic collaboration between MSEUF and BJP Elite Academy.
Beyond the classroom, students actively participated in morning prayers, engaged in Chinese New Year offerings, donned traditional Thai costumes, and explored iconic landmarks such as Big Buddha Hill and Khao Phra Bat. Culinary adventures also formed a key part of their immersion, as they learned to prepare authentic Thai dishes like Som Tum (Papaya Salad) and Pad Thai. Their cultural exposure culminated in a Thai dance performance workshop, deepening their appreciation for Thailand’s rich heritage.
The journey reached its pinnacle with an eco-tour of Nong Nooch Biological Garden, where students explored stunning botanical gardens, experimented with pottery making, and learned about sustainable gardening. They were also treated to captivating cultural performances and elephant shows, wrapping up an experience that was both educational and inspiring.
More than just an academic trip, the EU FLIGHT International Student Mobility Program was a life-changing adventure that broadened the perspectives of the MSEUF students, forged new international friendships, and strengthened the university’s partnership with BJP Elite Academy. This remarkable journey reinforced the value of global engagement in education, preparing students to become well-rounded and culturally aware individuals in an increasingly interconnected world.
