MS Team comprising Joshua Perez, Psychology student, John Leo Echevaria, Computer Science student, and Mariella Perlas, Accountancy student, grabbed 2nd place in the recently concluded Regional Pitching Competition of the Philippine Startup Challenge (PSC 8), besting other 32 regional finalists.

The Turo-Turo mobile application by MS Team stands as a pivotal platform connecting tutors and tutees, fostering employment opportunities for tutors and providing essential educational support through technology.

Erika Marca, faculty member of the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies, coached the team, shared her experience, and expressed her pride in the success of her team.

“The success of their pitch for this innovative concept highlights the positive reception and acknowledgment of their dedication to meeting the needs of both educators and learners,”  Marca shared.

“It is my first time being a teacher-mentor. I had an experience as a student but it was totally different. I cannot express in words how proud and honored I am for having the chance to be the mentor of these talented young innovators,” Marca added.

“We also want to thank Engr. Roselyn Maaño, director of the Research Publication, Incubation, and Utilization Center, and Dean Rodrigo Belleza Jr. for their support since the start of the PSC 8,” Marca said.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology Region IV-A (DICT IV-A), through the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB), in partnership with the Baybayin Hub and the Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna, sponsored the said competition, Oct. 10-11.
