HSO conducts bomb awareness seminar

The Health and Safety Office in collaboration with the Quezon Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (Quezon PECU) conducted Bomb Awareness Seminar as part of its activities under the “Basta Envergan, Ligtas Sa Kapahamakan” program, Mar. 19, at the University covered court.

 

Members of the University Disaster and Emergency Response Team, Occupational Safety and Health Committee, faculty members, non-teaching employees and skilled workers, attended the event.

 

The activity aimed to provide awareness on suspicious materials and related activities, and strengthen reporting procedures and safe evacuation protocols.

 

The activity was conducted in support of the ARISE Philippines Network and Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, focused on good health and well-being, quality education, sustainable cities and communities, and partnership for the goals.

 

The office also distributed IEC materials related to the 911 emergency hotline and the consequences of bomb threats. 

 

The activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as follows:

• Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) - The bomb awareness seminar contributes to promoting good health and well-being by equipping individuals with knowledge on how to recognize and respond to suspicious materials and related activities, thereby enhancing safety and reducing the risk of harm to individuals' health.
• Quality Education (SDG 4) - The seminar aims to provide education and awareness on bomb threats and evacuation protocols, contributing to quality education by imparting essential knowledge and skills to members of the University community.
• Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) - By enhancing awareness of bomb threats and strengthening reporting procedures and evacuation protocols, the activity contributes to building safer and more resilient communities within the University, aligning with the goal of creating sustainable cities and communities.
• Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) - The collaboration between the Health and Safety Office, Quezon Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit, and other stakeholders demonstrates the importance of partnerships and collaboration in addressing security threats and promoting safety within communities. This aligns with SDG 17, which emphasizes the need for multi-stakeholder partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals.
