CCJC, JPC, hosts gender and development seminar
To Promote Equality and Inclusion, the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC), in collaboration with its student organization, Juris Peritus Criminis (JPC), organized a seminar on Gender and Developme, Feb. 23.
The event featured Atty. Paula Bianca Daquigan as the resource speaker, who explored the relationship between gender and development in advancing equality and empowering marginalized genders.
The seminar focused on addressing gender-related issues, fostering discussions on strategies to promote equality, and encouraging students to actively contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.
Atty. Paula emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing the challenges faced by different genders, highlighting how equal opportunities can lead to broader societal progress.
Aligned with global goals, the seminar supported several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It addressed SDG 5: Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls by promoting awareness and advocacy for equal rights and opportunities. It also supported SDG 10: Reduce Inequality Within and Among Countries by focusing on the inclusion of marginalized groups. Furthermore, the discussions emphasized SDG 8: Promote Sustained, Inclusive, and Sustainable Economic Growth, showcasing how gender equality contributes to workforce participation and economic advancement.
