The MSEUF Unified Research Agenda

 

6.1      Background

The MSEUF Unified Research Agenda 2012-2018 serves as a guidepost and template for research and development activities of the MSEUF. The very first research agenda of the MSEUF which ended in 2011 focused on four key research areas: institutional development, community development, environmental conservation, protection and development, and aesthetic and cultural development. In 2012, the research agenda was updated to address research areas and topics that are attuned to the research priorities brought about by the developments that have taken place in the University.

6.2      Purposes

6.2.1.     To provide focus and direction on research and development activities that address various issues and concerns 

6.2.2.     To provide research-based solutions that address pressing national and local problems

6.2.3.     To serve as basis for funding research projects and for collaboration between and among colleges and departments of MSEUF and other institutions and funding agencies

6.2.4.     To guide academic work of writing thesis and dissertation and minimize duplication of researches

6.2.5.     To guide resource utilization in the University

 

6.3      Framework

The MSEUF Mission-Vision statement and core values serve as the guiding principle of the MSEUF Unified Research Agenda 2012-2018. Moreover, it is anchored on the research priorities of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as elucidated in the National Higher Education Research Agenda 2 (NHERA 2009-2018), the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA 2011-2016) of the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS), the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the National Integrated Basic Research Agenda (NIBRA) of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). 

This research agenda is to be attained through collaborative research programs and multidisciplinary approaches.

 

6.4      Research and Development Priorities

6.4.1         COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT and SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY (families and communities transition, studies on values development and clarification, development studies with direct application to provincial and regional situations, poverty alleviation/reduction, quality of life and life satisfaction, migration and urbanization, socio-anthropological studies, communication studies, safety and security, disaster risk and management, local planning, good governance, intervention programs for LGUs and the police force);

6.4.2         EDUCATION and EDUCATION MANAGEMENT (program/curricular studies on basic and higher education, policy oriented studies, quality and standards, technology and education, model building studies, institutional development studies, manpower and demand supply studies, graduate tracer studies, academe- industry linkages and match/mismatch);

6.4.3         HEALTH and WELLNESS PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT (health technology development, health financing, health service delivery, socio-environmental health concerns, nutrition and wellness program development);

6.4.4         APPLIED TECHNOLOGIES, SCIENCE and ENGINEERING (ICT, technological research on the advancement of information technology, biochemistry and biology, science and technology education, engineering education, materials science and engineering);

6.4.5         BUSINESS, INDUSTRY, LIVELIHOOD and FOOD SECURITY
(entrepreneurship, business innovations and opportunities, tourism and hospitality management, studies in economics, accountancy, finance, operations management, marketing and organizational behavior, CSR, studies on agricultural and fishery production, cost and return analysis);

6.4.6         HUMANITIES, ARTS and CULTURE (multidisciplinary research on Philippine literature, arts and sociology, integrative studies on linguistics, sociology, anthropology, fine arts, architecture and humanities, studies on the history and cultural heritage of Quezon Province, research and development focused on the promotion and preservation of local and national heritage); and

6.4.7         ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION, PROTECTION and DEVELOPMENT (documentation study/taxonomy of rare species endemic in the province/region, conservation study on the natural resources, policy-oriented research on the environment and the natural resources, climate change and other environmental concerns, biodiversity, maritime studies).
