MSEUF names distinguished alumni and outstanding faculty

ENVERGA UNIVERSITY WILL HOLD ITS 63rd Commencement Exercise on April 9 with Senator Manny VIllar as speaker. The university will also give recognition to distinguished alumni and outstanding faculty of 2010.


Lawyer Rodel L. Ambas, BSE'66 and LI.B. '71, was editor-in-chief of The Luzonian, and speaker of the Student Assembly of the Supreme Student Government. He has been a practicing lawyer of the past 37 years, was elected president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Quezon Chapter in 1997-1999, and chaired the Lucena City People's Law Enforcement Board from 1992-2002.


P/S Supt. Dionardo B. Carlos, HS'83 (salutatorian), has been in active police and military service for 21 years. He is part of the 100-strong PNP contingent to Cambodia in 1992-1993 as district director of the United Nations Civilian Police in Tirumkhet City and team leader of the Provincial Mobile Training Team of Prey Province where he was cited for bravery by the UN. Since then, he has been an active leader of UN missions in Southeast Asia, Australia, and Africa. Now a chief of Police of Dumaguete City, he is also currently enjoying a Master in Management scholarship at Asian Institute of Management. PSSUpt Carlos was also adjudge one of the ten Country's Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS).


Manuela D. G. Pineda, BSIE'96 (cumlaude), is currently engineer 2 at the Katolec Philippines Corp. and was adjudge Outstanding Engineer from 2007-2008 after her production improvement process using industrial engineering tools. She acts as the deputy environment management representative and integrated management system lead auditor of her company.


Mark Vincent G. Yason, BSCS'02, is a reverse engineer, malware analyst and software developer at IBM Internet Security System Department. He was featured as "The Last Watchdog on the Internet Security" for cracking open Conficker's secret communications protocol. An IBM disclosure said the global dispersion of the chattering Conficker machines IBM could see out on the Internet that Yason saved were as follows: Asia 45 percent, Europe 31 percent, South America 14 percent, North America 6 percent and Middle East 3 percent.


Together with the distinguished alumni, the outstanding faculty members are Ma. Luisa B. Canela of the College of Engineering, Divina J. Glifonea of College of Education and Maricel D. Herrera of College of Tourism and Horel and Restaurant Management.
