› Enverga, Villariba named Natatanging Anak ng Lucena Emeritus 2006

The university’s very own founder Dr. Manuel S. Enverga and Graduate School Dean Emeritus Dr. Cesar A. Villariba were inducted as two of the first Natatanging Anak ng Lucena Emeritus during ceremonies held Aug. 18 at the Queen Margarette Hotel, Lucena City.

Dr. Enverga was posthumously recognized as an Outstanding Legislator, while Dr. Villariba received honor as an Outstanding Educator and Historian.

The awards committee reckoned that the achievements of Dr. Enverga and Dr. Villariba merit more than the traditional honor of being named Natatanging Anak ng Lucena. Thus the committee elevated the award given to them to a superlative degree with the addition of “emeritus” to the standard title.
This year’s roster of Natatanging Anak ng Lucena 2006 also includes four of the university’s alumni and faculty, as well as the University chaplain. They are Felix F. Avillo, (BEEd ’63, Government Service), Engr. Reynaldo O. Calayan, Jr., (BSCE ’79, Entrepreneurship-Realty Development), Prof. Leonida Q. Reyes (BSE ‘70, MAED ’86, Education), and Msgr. Leandro N. Castro, University Chaplain (Religion).

The Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation was recognized as one of Lucena’s First, being among the pioneering educational institutions that influenced and shaped the history of Lucena City.
During the weeklong series of activities held in celebration of the city’s anniversary, Enverga University college student Jennylyn Dinglasan won the poetry-writing contest themed “Unlad Lucena… Kasali Ka!” Envergan Arcel Denise M. Valdepena likewise won the same contest in the elementary level.

“Inspirasyon, Modelo at Kayamanan ng Lungsod” served as this year’s theme.
